Route and Highlights

The Berlin-Copenhagen long-distance cycle route begins at the Brandenburg Gate, one of Berlin’s most iconic landmarks, and covers the first 20 kilometres through the vibrant metropolis. The route passes historic sights such as the Reichstag, the government district, and several memorials, offering a fascinating blend of urban history, modern architecture, and nature. Along the way, urban highlights and green retreats alternate, creating a varied and scenic journey. The Futurium captivates visitors with visionary concepts of the future, while the route follows the Berlin-Spandau Ship Canal and the River Havel. The Bürgerablage bathing area, with its expansive sandy beach, provides a relaxing stop by the water. Further out of the city, the Spandauer Forest—one of Berlin’s largest woodland areas—marks a seamless transition to the next stage through Brandenburg, boasting a rich diversity of wildlife. This first cycling stage through Berlin combines culture, history, and nature, making it the perfect starting point for the journey along the Berlin-Copenhagen cycle route towards Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Denmark.

Brandenburger Tor

Directly on the cycle path, the idyllic Bürgerablage bathing area with its 600 metre wide sandy beach invites you to take a refreshing break: either directly in the cool water or with a drink and refreshments from the Jagdhaus Spandau. The restaurant is located right next to the bathing area.
